Biography

Following the completion of my BA (H1) and B Archaeological Practices at the Australian National University, Canberra, I worked in museums and archives before establishing and managing the delivery of cultural repatriation initiatives in the Australian university sector. I began my PhD in 2024 as a Gates Cambridge Scholar.

Research

My research examines how the emotions of non-Indigenous university researchers and museum professionals influence the return of Ancestral Remains and cultural heritage material back to former settler colonies, with the goal of informing repatriation processes. By acknowledging and engaging with all available emotional registers, more authentic opportunities for inter-community reconciliation and peace-building and intra-community empowerment and cultural revitalisation can be identified and incorporated into praxis. Using an interdisciplinary approach, I aim to provide practitioners with a more nuanced and comprehensive understanding of the affective dynamics within and between their institutions and the communities they seek to represent.
